Could Storm Dorian impact South Florida?

Welcome to this blog post from Jack Fawsitt Productions, your guide to South Florida from a British perspective. Today’s post is about an impending storm that is currently ravaging the Caribbean islands. Dorian is currently a tropical storm moving North West towards the Virgin Islands (US and British) and especially Puerto Rico. As I write this post on the morning of 28 August, the storm is expected to strengthen to hurricane status, possibly becoming a major hurricane by the time it impacts the US. An impact on American shores is almost certain, but the actual track is still uncertain. The most likely track is for Dorian to impact Central Florida near Cape Canaveral. However, the track for Dorian puts its landfall as far South as Homestead, FL and as far North as Jacksonville. Based on that assumption, I do believe that Miami would suffer little to no impact from Dorian at this time, though this is a rapidly developing storm, and if any future developments that concern South Florida do arise, then I will update you on this blog. Despite the impact to the Miami region being low at this time, I will still plan ahead in case Dorian does make an early turn and impact closer to the region than expected. Thank you for reading this blog post, and follow this blog to stay informed with the situation with Dorian.
