Bayfront Park - 14 July 2017

On 14 July 2017, I took a break from the local area and visited Downtown Miami to see Bayfront Park, as well as some other attractions in the city centre of Miami.

Bayfront Park:
Bayfront Park is a park located in Downtown Miami. The park contains a coastal walk, as well as various places to relax, such as hidden tropical rainforests (after all, Miami is the only major American city in the Lower 48 states to have a tropical climate), statues and a large amphitheatre where shows and concerts are held. On the day of my visit, there were no shows on at Bayfront Park.

Bayside:
Since Bayfront Park is actually quite a small park, and since I wanted to visit the entire coast, the next destination was Bayside. Bayside contains many quaint shops and restaurants overlooking a bay where tourist boats depart and arrive often. At the time of my visit, we had lunch and then proceeded along the coast of Miami.

The rest of the city:
After Bayside, I desired to explore the rest of the city, so we crossed a major road and railway to walk alongside the entrance to the Port of Miami (which as far as I am aware, is one of the top 5 most busiest ports in the world). During this time, we walked past Freedom Tower, the American Airlines arena and Museum Park. Since the time was getting very late now in the afternoon, we boarded a free Metromover train to Government Center, which had hallmarks of the DLR that I was so used to in London. At Government Center, we waited for our bus back to the suburbs, and marvelled at an old army car (that was advertising a military museum) and a fountain art installation.
